Welcome to Forest Schools

encouraging and inspiring individuals through positive outdoor experiences

Welcome to the Forest Schools web site. A Forest School is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment.

The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences over an extended period of time.

We run unique Forest Schools training courses throughout the year, please take a look at our course diary HERE.

If you are passionate about delivering Forest Schools sessions at your site or becoming an assistant on a Forest Schools site then there are a range of training courses available to suit your experiences and needs. The Open Awards Forest School Practitioners Awards start from entry level and continue up to the Level 4.

Forest Schools sessions must be run by a Level 3 trained Forest Schools practitioner. However, if you are interested in becoming an assistant to a Level 3 practitioner whilst gaining a wide range of new skills then a level 2 will be suitable. The level 1 course is a great way to introduce people to Forest Schools and the ethos behind it as well as learning some practical skills in the outdoors. Please have a look at which training is right for you.

Undertaking the Forest Schools Practitioner or Assistant Practitioner award will enable you to motivate and inspire groups and individuals to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and nurturing environment whilst providing a unique learning experience.
