Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

What makes face-to-face training different from online?
You'll spend five full days learning in a real woodland setting with an experienced trainer. It's immersive, hands-on, and gives you the chance to practise practical skills like tool use, fire lighting, and facilitation in person, with immediate feedback and support.
What if I'm not confident outdoors?
Most of our learners start feeling exactly the same way. You don't need to be a nature expert or identify every tree and bird. The course builds your confidence step by step, and our trainers are there to support you throughout.
How long does it take to qualify?
You'll complete five days of face-to-face training, then have twelve months to finish your portfolio. Most learners qualify within that timeframe, with ongoing mentor support included.
Do I need any prior qualifications?
No prior outdoor or Forest School qualifications are required. Many of our learners come from classroom teaching, early years, or teaching assistant backgrounds.
Do I need a First Aid qualification?
Yes. You'll need a 16-hour Outdoor First Aid or Paediatric First Aid certificate to complete your Level 3. If you don't already have one, we can help you find a suitable course.
What's the refund policy?
You have a 30-day cooling off period after booking for a full refund. Cancellations fewer than 20 working days before your course start date are non-refundable, but if your circumstances change, get in touch and we can help you transfer to a different training week.
What qualification will I receive?
An Open Awards accredited Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification, recognised nationally and internationally. It meets the requirements for public liability insurance, so you can lead sessions independently.
